Timor-Leste Women in Business Awards

The 2024 Timor-Leste Women in Business Awards honoured outstanding women who have made remarkable contributions to Timor-Leste. However, behind them are dozens of other Timorese women in business and more than 700,000 others who go unrecognised, continuing their vital roles in family, work – or both – without public acknowledgement.

All Timorese women deserve to be safe, valued, and respected. While awards promote women’s empowerment, what is needed in Timor-Leste is structural change, to create a level playing field that addresses barriers to women’s development and participation, gender stereotypes, violence against women, and sexual harassment. 

These award winners are now pioneers of change, empowered to inspire, advocate, and help create a brighter future for all Timorese women.
